Dragonflies provide us with a beautiful symbol of our becoming the person we were meant to be as we age.
Dragonflies are a real fascination to me.   Maybe part of my fascination with dragonflies is that besides their luminous beauty and looking fairy-like, they have been around for at least 300 million years ago, even before dinosaurs roamed the earth.
They have such an agile flying ability, which symbolizes elegance and grace. The beautiful iridescent colors remind me of the discovery of one’s hidden talents and true nature, which should be rediscovered in our later years.

I look at dragonflies as a symbol of change and maturity because they only remain in the dragonfly stage for about two months and yet they could live for six years. They spend most of their life being a nymph in the water before their metamorphosis into a full-grown beautiful creature. Isn’t that how we humans are? Most of our life is spent learning lessons and maturing and then, finally, one day, we began to blossom into the person we were meant to be.
